What is MTV doing? With shows like "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant," MTV is publicizing teen pregnancies, pregnancies out of wedlock, and teenagers struggling to even finish high school. Throughout the first season of "16 and pregnant," America was introduced to four teens who were pregnant with their first child, and none of them were planned. Catelynn, Farrah, Maci and Amber were regular High School students when they made the sacrifice of their youth.

"I can't even imagine getting pregnant as a teenager. I would never want to be on a reality show about it if it did happen, it's weird," said Junior Caitlin Maloney. Not only were these four girls put under the microscope on "16 and Pregnant, but MTV decided to give them another reality show about how they dealt with being teen mothers.

Throughout the show "Teen Mom," America watched Maci, Amber and Farrah struggle with raising babies, while practically still babies themselves. I don't know what kind of a message MTV is trying to send by showing us the downfall of America, but why would anyone want to watch teenaged children have their own children, drop out of high school and have financial troubles before they are even legally allowed to live on their own?

"I think that show is extremely stupid. I think it makes it seem like having a baby when you are a teenager is okay, but those girls can barely drive a car, what do they know about raising a kid," said James Campton, a Physical Education major.

The premise of this whole show just seems, to me, outlandish and almost frightening. I can't even imagine being a teen parent and to watch girls and boys younger than myself go through the process of being pregnant, having a baby or giving it up for adoption just seems so foreign. Not only is MTV cashing in on the original group of four adolescents, but they also just debuted their second season of the show, following another ten American teenaged girls who are pregnant in high school.
