Florence Welch's band to perform at MTV Awards

Florence Welch surprised almost everyone around her, after her video for 'Dog Days Are Over' earned a total of four nominations at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, and now she and her band have been tapped to perform the song at the big show.

This show will be broadcasted on the 12th of September at 9 p.m. ET.The band would surely aim to surprise once more. Although, as Welch spoke to MTV News last week, after learning of her norms, the celebrities in the audience most likely won't be the only ones who wouldn’t believe what they see.

So much for faking it. "The Hills" may have required a good deal of acting, but that doesn't mean the cast is moving on to a Hollywood career. The original face of the MTV show, Lauren Conrad, doesn't appear to have any plans to act again. She has already kicked off her post-"Hills" career with several books, a clothing line and is reportedly turning her memoir, "L.A. Candy," into a movie, which she thinks should star former cast mate Lo Bosworth.

But Bosworth may be too busy channeling Gwyneth Paltrow to take her up on her offer. She is currently nesting with her new boyfriend and tending to her lifestyle Web site he actress just wrapped "Honey 2," which also stars Mario Lopez and revolves around a dancer released from juvenile detention who joins a dance crew.

Impact: Inside the Protest was the second most watched non-sport program of the day for P12-34, 18-34, and A18-49 on all Canadian commercial & US specialty networks(2). Total audience for the MTV NEWS special was 176,000 P2+(1).

Beavis & Butthead' To Return To MTV?

After 13 years of skipping school, "Beavis & Butthead" may finally be getting a come back. "Beavis & Butthead" creator Mike Judge is rumored to be working on 30 new episodes of the series, according to REVIEWniverse. The rumors also state that the series will maintain it's loose animated style as well as its original format of music video critiques surrounded by two short cartoons.

However, the rumor also points out that there is no deal between Judge and MTV currently in place. It also suggests that Judge could simply release his material online if MTV passes on airing it. Originally created by Judge in 1993.

"Beavis & Butthead' followed the exploits of the title duo: a clueless pair of slackers with a penchant for rock music and misbehavior. The show ran on MTV for over four years and 200 episodes before ending in 1997. In 1996, the series came to the big screen with "Beavis & Butt-head Do America."

MTV Signs Deal With Dragonfish

Two superpowers have joined forces to bring online bingo players a new brand that should definitely go down well. Up Your Bingo is the name of a new bingo brand that will be created, thanks to a deal signed between Dragonfish, 888's Business to Business brand, and MTV Networks UK and Ireland.

The launch of the product marks MTV's first venture into the world of online gaming. The brand, Up Your Bingo, will be a skin on the Dragonfish Network for the time being. Due to go live this month, Up Your Bingo, will receive top notch exposure across the MTV and Viva network. Exposure will include online and offline channels.

The Chief Executive for 888, Gigi Levy, who is also serving as acting managing director of Dragonfish, said about the new venture: "We wish to form partnerships with market leaders from other branded sectors seeking to monetize their assets." "MTV Networks is an internationally renowned brand, and we are proud to launch their their first entry into online gaming," he added.

SRK produces rom coms for MTVShah Rukh Khan’s TV production company, Red Chillies Idiot Box, has tied up with MTV to produce Cornetto Luv Reels. It will premiere two young mushy rom-coms for two weeks, starting June 3. Fresh faces have been cast in these TV movies that will be helmed by experienced directors like Somnath Sen who has the Dimple Kapadia-Vinod Khanna starrer, Leela, to his credit.

“MTV had approached us with the concept. We thought it could lend a new dimension to TV programming and came on board to give a ‘film feel’ to these stories,” says Idiot Box’s Samar Khan, who had earlier directed the critically acclaimed Shaurya.

He insists that Idiot Box has always tried to break convention. “The programming has to be innovative. It may or may not work, but at least it should be something that no one has seen before,” Khan asserts.

The reality series, which is a spinoff of ‘The Hills,” which is a spinoff of “Laguna Beach,” follows around Whitney Port as she makes the transition from Intern to fashion designer in New York City.

MTV looks to UK teenage dramas for inspiration

MTV is remaking itself as the place to go for hip and funny teen dramas and its inspiration has come from the UK. From the much-anticipated remake of Skins, which starts on MTV early next year, to a planned redo of scabrous school comedy The Inbetweeners (a deal is being finalised), MTV executives are betting that audiences have had enough of the polished "everything works out in the end" school drama and they are putting their money on British teen formats.

"When there's a great show there's a history in America of adapting other countries' formats," says David Janollari, MTV's executive vice president of scripted development. "A good show with a unique point of view and a distinctive voice is always what we're looking for, wherever it comes from."

MTV Looking for First Twitter JockeyMTV will be searching for its very first “TJ”, short for Twitter Jockey. The network has already chosen 18 out of the 20 contestants who will be vying for the position.

The two remaining slots will be chosen by viewers. All 20 contestants will be undergoing challenges all throughout summer. Audience will choose the winner among the final five on August 8.

The winner will also win 100,000 USD as a prize and one-year contract job with the company’s office at Times Square.
