Olympic bronze medalist and Tour de France veteran Levi Leipheimer (LEE'-vy LYP'-hy-mur) is visiting Maine to take part in the second annual bicycling fundraiser put on by "Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey. Leipheimer joins five-time Olympian George Hincapie (HIHN'-kuh-pee) and this year's top U.S. Tour de France finisher, Chris Horner, as among the participants in the Dempsey Challenge. Dempsey is from Buckfield, Maine. He plays neurosurgeon Dr. Derek Shepherd on the ABC series "Grey's Anatomy."

He launched the Challenge last year with a bike ride to raise money for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. This year's event has been expanded to two days. There will be walking and running events Oct. 2 and bicycle rides through central Maine between 10 and 100 miles Oct. 3.

Jamie Foxx will be returning to some of his roots. The actor, 43, will be seen again on the FOX network, in his new, so far untitled comedy project. Foxx became well-known after starring on FOX’s In Living Color, which ran from 1990 to 1994, and consisted of others like the Wayans brothers, David Alan Grier, and Jim Carrey. According to MonstersandCritics.com, the FOX network picked up the show, which will be a primetime half-hour comedy sketch series. Oscar winner Foxx will be the new show’s executive producer. Comedian and actor Affion Crockett will star in the project, as well as serve as one of the show’s producers.

In addition to many other projects, Foxx is currently in pre-production for The Skank Robbers, a spin-off of a sketch from In Living Color, according to IMDB. Foxx won an Academy Award in 2005 for his performance in Ray, in which he portrayed blind singer Ray Charles. He has also won numerous other film awards.

MTV and its Viacom parent along with producer Bunim-Murray have answered the $5 million lawsuit, filed last month in U.S. District Court in Washington by Golzar Amirmotazedi, who claims she was given eight to 10 alcoholic beverages and ridiculed when she refused to have sex with one of the show's cast members. In pushing her claims of privacy violations and infliction of emotional distress, Amirmotazedi asserts that she was too inebriated to sign a lawful waiver. What say the defendants? Not drunk!

Predictably, the producers first say the release agreement covers them from liability. It states, "I understand that I have no expectation of privacy in (The Real World) house." (The waiver is also more good evidence of the broad rights that people sign away when appearing on reality TV.)

Twilight fans with a live stream from the upcoming red carpet premiere for Eclipse in Los Angeles, California. MTV correspondent Josh Horowitz and Twilight fan site owner Kimmy West will be reporting from outside the Nokia Theatre for two hours during the premiere to provide live updates.

According to MTV, the correspondents are scheduled to interview high profile cast members from The Twilight Saga, including Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene and many others. To go along with the cast members, director David Slade, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and author Stephenie Meyer will participate in interviews with Horowitz and West.

Jane Lynch will cheer on young activists at a July awards show. The actress, who plays formidable cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in TV hit Glee, has signed up to host VH1's Do Something Awards. The bash, to be held in Los Angeles, honours those aged 25 and under who are trying to improve their community. One will win a 100,000 dollar grant at the event, taking place on July 19 and airing live on VH1 in the US. The awards will also recognise celebrities and organisations who are trying to make a difference.

MTV Networks International has announced that Philip Bourchier O'Ferrall has been promoted to the role of Senior Vice President Digital Media, which will see him overseeing all of the music channel's non-US multi-media and online whatnots.

He has previously headed up the firm's digital teams in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia, and will continue to do so. He will report to MTV International President Robert Bakish, who told CMU: "Our digital ambition is to be on all of the platforms that are relevant to our audience. I am confident that Philip will drive robust growth for MTV International's digital business as he has for MTV UK".

Do you like MTV’s Jersey Shore? If your answer is no, it’s probably because you’re old and cynical – at least according to the MTV Networks President Van Toffler.

That was the implication at a luncheon yesterday when Toffler discussed who MTV’s new audience was, and why Jersey Shore is just perfect for the demographic of choice.

THRFeed’s James Hibberd reports on comments made by Toffler yesterday. “We’re pushing Generation X out,” he said. “We’re slaves to our different audiences, for MTV that’s millennials, who are vastly different than Generation X; they’re definitely less cynical – they’re more civic minded.”

BEYONCE has scooped a hat-trick of prizes at the MTV Europe Music Awards, dedicating one of them to husband Jay-Z. The 28-year-old singer, writer and producer took home three trophies, for best female star, best song (Halo) and best video (Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)).

Her husband, Jay-Z, won the best urban act category and Eminem was named best male star. The awards burst into life with a performance by Green Day, followed by host Katy Perry's mash-up of the five best song contenders, including Beyonce's hit Halo and Kings of Leon's Use Somebody.

An afternoon nap amidst a bout of nighttime insomnia was the impetus for "Break Up," a new song cycle of duets by Pete Yorn and actress Scarlett Johansson that's due out September 15.

Yorn told Billboard.com that "after I kind of dozed off one afternoon for a few minutes, I just woke up and my heart was racing and I had this thing in my head ... 'I have to do a duets album, a guy-girl album.' It just popped into my head. I wasn't dreaming about Scarlett Johansson or anything like that. I was really into 'Bonnie & Clyde' at the time, by Serge (Gainsbourg) and Brigitte (Bardot), and I thought, 'Brigitte ... Scarlett! She's Brigitte!' It was a really manic thought pattern that was going on. Within 10 minutes, I was texting Scarlett, 'We have to make a record!'"
