C.K. revealed that his show at the Beacon Theater on November 12th will be recorded and posted on his website on December 10th, where the show can be viewed for a cost of five dollars via PayPal.
Louis C.K. clarified that the show will not air on any television network or iTunes. He added, “I’m paying for it with the ticket money from the people that bought tickets. I won’t really make any money but it’s more fun that way.”
Louis C.K.’s comedy has always been groundbreaking, and now he’s breaking new ground in broadcast format as well. While the decision to broadcast the show online is unorthodox, it is not indicative of any kind of love for Internet culture on Louis’s part. He said of social media on Conan last night, “I kind of hate it. I think it’s awful,” adding, “I have Twitter so that I can just tell people what I want them to buy and give me money.”
This broadcast will allow those of us without HBO or Showtime to see a Louis C.K. stand up special close to its original performance. It’s also pretty much guaranteed to be hilarious.
