Chances are, you still mumble through the words of "Auld Lang Syne" when the clock strikes midnight every New Year's Eve, but you're always game to sing. That's because New Year's Eve is full of traditions -- the ball drop, the champagne-soaked revelry, the confetti.
In Portland, most confetti-laden champagne toasts cap a night of music, dancing and entertainment at some of the city's top music venues. This year features plenty of hot shows to ring in the upcoming leap year, so get your dancing clogs on and party up.
All shows are Dec. 31 unless otherwise noted. Quarterflash 30th Anniversary -- Marv and Rindy Ross have been rocking the Northwest for over 30 years, but this winter marks the 30th anniversary of their debut Quarterflash album, which featured their biggest hit, "Harden My Heart," so they're throwing a party.
"It doesn't seem possible that it's been 30 years," said Marv Ross. Expect plenty of Quarterflash hits from their six albums, including some they've never played live. They'll also tell tales of their days of stardom, where they met "famous, wacky people." It's less dish and more humor, according to Rindy Ross. Their tale of Burt Bacharach and his love of Pac-Man is a doozy. Jon Koonce and his One More Mile band open.
