On Sunday, one of TV’s best shows is back for a fourth season. Dexter, starring Emmy-nominated Michael C.
Hall (who should have won this year), is by far the best drama involving murder or policemen on television. Forget CSI, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist, Law and Order etc.
No show compares to Dexter in each and every aspect that makes a show worth watching and successful.
Some may say that last season didn’t live up to the almost impossible standards set by the first two seasons, but that’s like saying a team who wins the Stanley Cup for the third year in a row didn’t play as well as they had in the previous two years.
This year, Dexter now has a child of his own and he’s got to deal with having to be a father first – putting his serial killer duties on hold, if only just slightly. The fourth season guest stars John Lithgow as a new serial killer that is wreaking havoc on Miami. Will Dexter be able to catch him without revealing his hobby to those around him?
Everyone who has discovered the truth about him has met an untimely demise. Who will it be this season? Dexter airs on Movie Central on Sunday Night at 9 pm. Do not miss it. If you want to catch up on the entire third season, Movie Central is showing all 12 episodes tomorrow at 11 am in a Dexter marathon.
Friday night used to be a pretty quiet night for TV, but if you choose to stay home tonight you’ve got a few good options. If you missed Flash Forward last night (which did very well in the ratings) you can catch it at 8 pm, followed by re-airings of Courtney Cox in Cougar Town and this season’s best new show (so far) Modern Family at 9 tonight on ABC.
Over at CBS, they’ve added Medium to their lineup and have apparently retooled the show in order to gain a whole new audience. The CBS season premiere of Medium is on at 9, sandwiched between the season premieres of Ghost Whisperer at 8 and Numb3rs at 10. On NBC, the original Law and Order has its season premiere at 8. Fox is back with a second season of the almost-cancelled Dollhouse airing its season premiere at 9 pm.
We watched the first four episodes last year and couldn’t get into it. I’ve heard it got better but there’s only so much TV a guy can watch. Fox has also got a new show, Brothers, on at 8 before Dollhouse. The premise of Brothers is based on Retired NFL player Mike Trainor, who leaves the high life behind when he is called home to help deal with family issues, only to find the change of venue has become a necessity when his financial picture suddenly changes. Starring Carl Weathers and former NFLer Michael Strahan, Brothers hasn’t been well received by critics and is expected to make an early exit from Fox’s schedule.
Other TV highlights this weekend: The Lions are in action tonight against the Stamps at 7 pm on TSN; Megan Fox hosts and U2 is the musical guest for the season premiere of Saturday Night Live tomorrow night at 11:30, lots of great NFL football on Sunday; and second episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm (in a hilariously-named episode called “Vehicular Fellatio”) and Bored to Death on HBO Sunday night at 8 and 8:30 respectively.
