Several networks are throwing parties this week during the annual upfront week, for media buyers and advertisers, but few networks can base a party on a single show on their schedules. Such a network is MTV, which on Tuesday night drew a crowd to celebrate its hit reality series, “Jersey Shore.”

The party, at the Hotel Edison in Midtown Manhattan, was decked out in what could be called full Jersey. There was Italian food like Philadelphia cheesesteaks and meatballs and spaghetti, and shore food like hot dogs and curly fries.

The bartenders were mixing drinks like Ron Ron Juice, the trademark libation of the cast member Ronnie Magro, which features vodka and watermelon juice among the ingredients. There were beach umbrellas and beach balls around the room.

The hair of the female servers was piled high atop their heads, in tribute to the cast member Snooki, a k a Nicole Polizzi. And the servers, female and male, all wore black T-shirts bearing the slogan “Fist Pumping Like Champs,” a reference to the cast’s signature dance.

The cast members were the guests of honor, standing on a stage and treating the attendees to some fist-pump dance moves and other signature behavior. Mike Sorrentino, who is nicknamed The Situation (to be precise, his abdominal muscles bear the nickname), tossed beach balls into the crowd.

The cast members were flown to New York from Miami, where they are filming the second season of “Jersey Shore,” and were to return to Miami after the party. Attendees were invited to mingle with the cast members and dance with them; four attendees were given “Jersey makeovers.”

MTV, part of the MTV Networks unit of Viacom, plans to show the first episode of season two of “Jersey Shore” on July 29. Until then, it is repeating the episodes from the first season in order.
